Innovations within the Homeland Section

Community development project

Mäpuru in their endeavours to be self sufficient asked the school for practical assistance in developing a community cooperative.

After 2 years of minimal assistance, the cooperative has provided hands on experience for the students, major input from parents, support form Elders, cheaper food for the community, and large savings on charter fares.

There has been a 400% increase in enrolments at the school, due to a general increase in population as a direct result of the Mäpuru Coop.

Shepherdson College has been thanked by the elders for the assistance provided.

The Coop provides real money and real experiences for the students to meaningfully engage with Western maths.

Increase in self esteem has been a highly visible outcome from the Coop.
